Microsoft Taps Show Media to Promote Bing Mobile App at CESShow Goers Get Free Shuttle Rides When They Download New Bing Mobile App (January 08, 2010)
LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwire) -- 01/08/10 -- Microsoft has partnered with Show Media to create a major presence for its new Bing Mobile App starting today at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. Show Media, which creates branded media around transportation for big events in cities throughout the country, Wednesday started giving free shuttle rides for show-goers who downloaded the Bing Mobile App.
"CES is one of the biggest conventions in the world and Las Vegas is notorious for not having enough taxis and other surface transportation to accommodate such a vast crowd," says Laurence Hallier, Show Media's Chairman. "We proposed to Microsoft that they provide a much needed hotel shuttle service as a way to help promote its Bing Mobile App. The program is designed to offer a better transportation solution for CES attendees who generally must wait 30-60 minutes for taxicabs or shuttle transportation to and from the convention center. CES patrons will be shown the benefits and features of the new Bing Mobile App via a Bing Ambassador onboard all vehicles."
Show Media designed a multi faceted marketing and experiential initiative which includes significant branding, transportation and interaction with attendees to the CES show. JWT did the creative assets. The marketing initiative includes two main components:
BING SOLUTION STATION LOT: Show Media created a one-acre lot directly across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center featuring branded signage for Bing Mobile App, custom traffic cones, mega-floor graphics, custom flags and a BING SOLUTION STATION tent where Bing ambassadors greet show-goers and talk up the Bing Mobile App. This creates hours of continuous coverage before, during and after each day's show.
FREE BING SHUTTLES: Show Media branded 21 passenger shuttles and minivans with Bing signage and is providing a Bing Ambassador on each vehicle who can help riders explain the benefits of the Bing Mobile App and assist with downloads. This creates massive awareness upon arrival into Las Vegas and 24 hour coverage at all hotels and throughout the city during CES.
"The folks at Show Media are brilliant," says Eric Hadley, General Manager of Worldwide Brand Microsoft. "They are providing a helpful mobile service that makes everyone happy and is associating it with how helpful Bing's Mobile App is. Lots of big companies spend big dollars to create awareness at CES; none will be as successful as our partnership with Show Media."
Show Media has legacy of innovation. At Austin's South by Southwest show, Show Media created a similar presence for Ray-Ban with branded transportation vans. This month in New York artworks by Shirin Neshat, Alex Katz and Yoko Ono (three New Yorkers known for art that works both conceptually and physically in a confined space) are displayed atop 500 New York City taxis instead of commercial messages as a way for Show Media to give back to the city.
Bing mobile is available for iPhone, iTouch and Blackberry and Windows mobile phones and can found: @ discoverbing.com/mobile or @ m.bing on any mobile device.
