Meyer Sound Helps Discovery's MythbustersIn pursuit of the Brown Note (February 16, 2005)
Over the 25 years of the companys existence, Meyer Sound has often engaged in out-of-the-ordinary research in order to determine the scientific truth of a matter. But arguably the most unusual was the assistance provided to the Discovery Channels ?MythBusters television series in their investigation of the urban myth known as ?the Brown Note.
Meyer Sound put staff scientist Roger Schwenke (a PhD in acoustics), a dozen 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofers (modified to provide response down to 5 Hz), as well as a SIMŽ 3 audio analyzer, at the disposal of the MythBusters crew to let them test the theory that subjecting a human to high levels of a particular low frequency could result in ?involuntary intestinal motility.
Judging from the avid response to news of this experiment, this must be a consuming issue for many people, but the answer to the question of the ?Disco Dump, as it is also sometimes called, is forthcoming, as the episode airs this week on the Discovery Channel.

In the last few days, MythBusters enlisted the help of Meyer Sound to investigate whether a human voice can actually shatter a glass. But youll just have to wait for more information on that!
