Metalogix Webinar Featuring IDC Analyst Laura Dubois Will Address How to Reduce the Risk of Migrating to Exchange 2010(March 22, 2011)
Metalogix Software, the leading provider in content lifecycle management (CLM) solutions for Microsoft® SharePoint®, Exchange®, and legacy environments, today announced a webinar that will help organizations plan and implement a large-scale migration to Exchange 2010 and take advantage of its new functionality. The webinar, titled "Moving to Exchange 2010? Reduce Risk by Archiving First!," will take place on March 24 at 11.30 a.m. EST. Laura DuBois, program vice president, storage software, at IDC and Patrick Dowling, vice president of business development at Metalogix, will lead the webinar.
While Exchange 2010 offers impressive and valuable new functionality, the difficult process of planning and implementing a large-scale migration to a new version of Exchange is a deterrent for many organizations. However, the latest email archiving solutions are emerging as the fastest, easiest, and safest way to migrate and manage valuable Exchange email content to Exchange 2010. These solutions provide a secure, policy-managed repository able to interface to any version or implementation of Exchange. And it is not just the organization that benefits from an email archive. Exchange 2010 itself also benefits significantly from external archiving functionality, which enables it to meet industry standards for Exchange performance and achieve legal compliance regarding secure data retention and rapid eDiscovery.
DuBois will kick off the webinar by discussing the clear direction the market is taking towards adopting Exchange 2010, as well as the drivers and requirements for comprehensive email archiving. The typical business email user sends and receives 600 emails in a week, and as they fill up the Microsoft Exchange Server they slow down end-user performance. To cope, users resort to bad corporate behavior, deleting email, creating PSTs, and printing hard copies. Research reveals that Exchange administrators confront six major issues:
• Mailbox quotas and storage growth (39 percent)
• PST maintenance, proliferation, corruption, and cost (37 percent)
• Disaster recovery and recovery concerns, including email restoration requests (34 percent)
• Concerns about completing Exchange backups (31 percent)
• Retaining emails for investigation and litigation preparedness (28 percent)
• Overworked and slow Exchange servers (21 percent)
The sheer volume of email and the serious issues facing Exchange administrators are major drivers for both migration and archiving.
Dowling will discuss the benefits of a third-party archiving solution and demonstrate how the functionality of the Metalogix Archive Manager for Exchange (formerly named [email protected]) addresses all six administrative issues. This multi-award-winning email archiving software solution reduces email storage costs by up to 80 percent and reduces backup and recovery times by 50 percent. Exchange administrators can do their jobs faster and with only minimum disruption of staff time and priorities. Professional Archive Manager for Exchange has enabled user organization to archive billions of emails successfully and made more than a thousand customers happy by simplifying their jobs.
