Media Lab Releases PhotoCaster 3.0 for Mac OS XMacromedia Director Xtra converts Photoshop files
PhotoCaster automates the import process in Director, interpreting all of a Photoshop file's elements layer by layer into a Director cast. All the relative positions of the elements are preserved, as well as the registration, transparency and anti-aliasing of the original design. Optionally, linked layers can also be imported as a single cast member using PhotoCaster.
PhotoCaster supports alpha channels and automatically generates a custom palette based on the layers in the Photoshop file, improves color reduction and dithering, supports dithering to a specified number of colors and can ignore hidden layers. It supports layer effects and styles and provides an option for importing text as "live" text or as a graphic.
PhotoCaster 3 is available now for $199. Upgrade pricing is also available and is free for those who purchased the Mac OS 9 version of PhotoCaster 3 after Dec. 1. A cross-platform version is available for $329. PhotoCaster 3 supports Photoshop 3 or higher (3 through 6 for layer styles and effects) and works with Director 5 through MX.
