Media 100 i 8.0 Arrives This SummerOS X support, new workflow and audio capabilities, expanded scripting highlight new version
I had a chance to speak with Mike Savello, Media 100's vice president of dual--stream systems, about the new version. He said version 8 (or "V8" as the company calls it) will see drastically expanded scripting capabilities in the form of AppleScript. Not only this, but every function in Media 100 i V8 that is scriptable will also be capable of being recorded, cutting down considerably--or, in some cases, entirely--on the need for users to code scripts manually.
In terms of workflow, the new version will receive the following enhancements:
- Draft composites directly in the timeline with the expanded number of graphics layers.
- Export composites to Adobe After Effects or other graphics/effects applications for further finishing and bring back directly into the V8 timeline using InstantMedia technology.
- Access audio tracks and user marks from within Boris FX or Boris RED.
For audio, the new version will support 24 real-time tracks simultaneously. Also added are a new master audio track and support for reverb and dynamics processing.
