Media 100 and Humber College to Support Digital Media Curriculum(September 05, 2001)
With the addition of 54 new Media 100 i and iFinish 4 systems, Humber College has created a first-class digital media facility built on Media 100 technology designed to offer an innovative course curriculum for aspiring journalists, production technicians, web content creators and broadcast designers. This curriculum is key to Humber College's approach to preparing its students to compete in real-world production environments in the burgeoning digital media marketplace. In addition to a traditional digital media content creation curriculum, Humber College is placing a new emphasis on interactive web development by training students with Media 100's interactive streaming technology built into Media 100 i and iFinish 4.
"We are excited to support Humber College in their efforts to provide students with the best education in digital media design and content creation," said Kevin Bourke, vice president of Corporate Communications for Media 100. "A first rate digital media curriculum combined with this new state-of-the-art facility will better prepare students for a real world experience and provide them with the skills they'll need to compete for professional positions in the broadcast design, streaming and production industries."
"Humber College is dedicated to providing its students with a competitive edge in every program we provide. That's why we've selected Media 100 technology as the educational tool of choice to support our new digital media curriculum," said William Hanna, Dean of the School of Media Studies at Humber College. "We have used Media 100 for years in our Film & Television Production program. With the new focus that Media 100 has placed on digital media content creation and interactive web development, there is a clear fit with our multimedia and web site design programs. This acquisition also ties in extremely well with the development of the Ontario Post Production Training Center here at the college. With the range of digital media programs we are offering, it made sense to team up with Media 100 to ensure that we're providing access to the right tools that will give our students an edge in the competitive broadcast, content creation and interactive streaming media markets."
Humber College has recently expanded their digital media facility to include a total of 58 iFinish 4 V20 DV PowerGrade V20 and Media 100 ixs digital media systems to instruct students how to create compelling digital media content for broadcast, streaming and DVD distribution.
