Media 100 Appoints Roger W. Redmond to Its Board of Directors

Media 100 Inc. today announced that it has appointed Roger W. Redmond to its board of directors. Mr. Redmond is currently a Managing Director with Goldsmith Agio Helms & Lynner, one of the nation's leading private investment banks.

"We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Redmond to the Media 100 Board of Directors," said John Molinari, president and chief executive officer of Media 100. "Media 100 is preparing to launch a major new product initiative and is refocusing the Company around this initiative. Roger is an expert in the digital media marketplace with years of experience analyzing the technologies and trends that move this space. He will bring valuable expertise to the Media 100 board to help us grow our business."

Mr. Redmond is a distinguished analyst and investment banker focused on high technology companies. Prior to Goldsmith, Mr. Redmond spent 13 years with Piper Jaffray Inc., where he was a Managing Director. At Piper Jaffray, Redmond spent nine years as a research analyst and four years in corporate finance, where he developed broad equity capital markets experience. Redmond has spent his entire career in high technology in a variety of sectors, with specific competencies in the Internet, teleconferencing, multimedia and video communications markets. Mr. Redmond's experiences also include the physical sciences, PC hardware and software, data security and enterprise software. In addition to Media 100, Mr. Redmond also sits on the board of directors of two other public companies, Spire Corporation and E.Mergent, Inc. Mr. Redmond also served previously on the Media 100 board of directors from February 1998 to May 2000.

Before joining Piper, Redmond was an engineer for IBM Corporation. He received a Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1988 and holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Arizona.

Mr. Castonguay has been a director since February 1997. Currently, Mr. Castonguay is the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance of MatrixOne, Inc., a provider of product collaboration software. Prior to that, Mr. Castonguay served as Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Vice President of Finance of Stratus Computer, Inc. He has also held executive financial management positions in several companies in the high technology marketplace, including Gradient Technologies, Inc., and Xylogics, Inc.

John Molinari

Mr. Molinari has been a director since June 1995 and has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Media 100 Inc. since December 1996. Mr. Molinari was also President of the Company from December 1996 until October 1998, resumed the role of President from June 1999 until May 2000, and again resumed that role in December 2000.

Paul Severino

Mr. Severino has been a director since April 1985. Since November 1996, Mr. Severino has been a private investor. Prior to that, Mr. Severino founded Bay Networks, Inc., a supplier of internetworking communications products, where he served as Chairman of the Board from October 1994 to October 1996, and as President and Chief Executive Officer from 1985 to October 1994. Mr. Severino is also the Chairman of the MTDC (Massachusetts Telecommunications Development Corporation), on the Board of Trustees of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, on the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council and a director of MCK Communications, Inc., Silverstream Software, Inc., and Sonus Networks, Inc.
