Maya Masters Launched

Program that honors select Maya artists from around the world (October 09, 2001)
Alias|Wavefront has announced the launch of its new Maya Masters program: a program that honors select Maya artists from around the world whose work stands as an example of excellence in 3D graphics and animation. Four Maya Masters have been chosen to launch the program: Dirk Bialluch, Chris Landreth, Nobuo Takahashi and Habib Zargarpour. Each of these Maya artists has made significant contributions to the CG industry based on his breakthrough use of Maya technology and/or contributions to the community at large via training and education.

Maya Masters Program Alias|Wavefront's goal in launching the Maya Masters program is twofold: recognize industry leaders who have chosen to work with Maya and provide a means to mentor other artists, particularly students.

"I'm very pleased to be part of a program whose goal is to honor 3D artists and provide mentoring to young, or new artists," says renowned CG filmmaker and Maya Master, Chris Landreth. "3D animation is an amazing field to be in today and I hope that this programs encourages those on the edge to try it out."

The Maya Masters website, which also launches today, features a biography of each master; a synopsis of their portfolio; as well as an in-depth interview with each covering such topics as how they got started in CG, how they've used Maya on specific projects and where they see the industry going.
