Matrox Releases Second RTMac BetaUpdate fixes A/V sync issues on Mac OS X
The Matrox RTMac is a combination video capture system (PCI card with breakout box) and graphics accelerator, providing support for a second Mac monitor on the capture card. Matrox launched its initial set of beta drivers for Mac OS X back in June owing to demand from users, though there were still some known issues with the software. The new version fixes A/V sync issues in NTSC and PAL, as well as A/V sync for playback. The company has also released a MAc OS X version of the RTMac firmware updater, which was previously available for pre-OS X Macintosh systems. The new release also includes French and German beta drivers, offering support for Apple's Final Cut Pro through version 3.0. (The English version supports Final Cut Pro 4.)
Matrox cautions that these drivers are in beta form and are provided as-is. The company does not recommend switching drivers in the middle of a project and also suggests backing up data prior to installation of the beta software. The drivers are available now for free for registered RTMac users. For more information, visit http://www.matrox.com.
