Marquis Broadcast Demonstrates Medway Integration between Microsoft Interactive Media Manager and Final Cut Pro at IBC 2007(September 07, 2007)
DMN Newswire--2007-9-7--Marquis Broadcast, specialist in broadcast workflow studies and software integration solutions, is featuring its Medway media highway system as part of the Microsoft Interactive Media Manager (IMM) demonstration at IBC 2007. In the demonstration, which will be held in the Topaz Lounge at the RAI Congress Centre, Medway provides tight integration for fast media file transfers between IMM and Apple Final Cut Pro.
IMM is a collaborative media management solution that extends Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for media and entertainment companies, helping them to create an easily accessible end-to-end content production system. Marquis' Medway media highway system provides seamless integration of media files between all post-production and broadcasting systems irrespective of hardware and software platforms.
At IBC2007, the Microsoft demonstration of IMM will use Marquis' Medway to showcase media transfers using true IMM-generated EDLs as a set of instructions to move media from central storage to Final Cut Pro 6.0 for professional editing. The media and its associated metadata will be packaged and formatted as appropriate to provide fast and seamless file transfers enabling media to be available instantly for the next process as soon as transfer begins. All media, edit decisions and additional metadata will be transferred in a single drag and drop action.
By using Medway as the media highway, users have the freedom to use 'best of breed' systems, for example, Avid, Final Cut Pro or Premier, in the knowledge that media will flow seamlessly with consistency and continuity of metadata throughout the entire workflow.
Microsoft is currently working with a selected group of media-focused industry partners to deliver and extend IMM. The end result is a tailored, enterprise solution that reduces operational costs and helps companies to respond quickly to new business opportunities. With an open, standards-based architecture, Microsoft IMM provides a highly extensible, highly scalable platform that supports custom development on top of existing investments. IMM pushes tasks and forms directly to people's inbox, so that they can quickly move through review and approval processes, for example. For users who do not have the Office Outlook client, RSS feeds are available from IMM components to keep people informed of updated lists and content. Behind the scenes IMM provides powerful tools for quickly building complex workflows and monitoring the performance and status of those workflows.
