Market-Leading Companies Tap Paragon Software for Key TechnologiesParagon's Technology in Demand as Company Strengthens Presence in North America (January 28, 2009)
IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/28/09 -- Paragon Software Group, the technology leader in innovative data security and data management solutions, is experiencing a marked upswing in demand for its robust technology solutions in the OEM sector of the channel. Cisco, Lanix, Lenovo, Phoenix, Realtek, Smith Micro, ASUSTeK Computer, and Snap-on are among the latest additions to Paragon's OEM lineup.
Originally founded in 1994 in Germany and having established a reputation as a leading provider of innovative software and technologies addressing both data storage and mobile productivity applications, Paragon Software opened its Americas headquarters in Irvine in early 2008. Focused on growing its channel in the Americas market, Paragon's channel program is already experiencing great success, adding over 70 major value added resellers (VARs) in the last two quarters. Tom Fedro, president of Paragon Software Group - Americas, added, "Our 100 percent channel centric sales model has been embraced by the reseller community allowing us to quickly take a measurable share of the backup and recovery software market from the competition -- primarily Symantec and Acronis."
Some of the world's largest OEM partners have recently chosen to collaborate with Paragon on a number of new initiatives that incorporate the company's unique technology. For example, Paragon's high-performance Universal File System Driver (UFSD) technology is helping to drive the reality of platform and operating system independence through the OEM channel. UFSD was specifically developed by the company to provide full cross-platform access to volumes of all popular file systems (ext2/3, HFS+, NTFS, FAT32, etc.) under various platforms (Mac, Windows®, Linux, etc.) when these file systems are not natively supported. Paragon's UFSD technology successfully bridges the gap between Mac, Linux and Windows operating systems.
"Integrating Paragon's intellectual property with a manufacturer's existing or new platform is becoming increasingly popular for our partners that are looking to cost effectively expand the utility of their offerings to their customers," noted Fedro. "Our award-winning technologies for hard drive management, complex storage administration and data protection, combined with our vast engineering resources and ability to customize each solution to fit their needs provides a strong value proposition for the OEM. Paragon's technology enables a new set of functionalities for our OEM partners, providing a demonstrable advantage over the competition while creating a new and sustainable source of revenue."
OEMs have embraced Paragon's software and deployed it in a wide array of applications.
Paragon's partitioning engine and NTFS for Linux are now available in Phoenix Technologies' HyperSpace product. Phoenix, the leader in PC 3.0(TM) products, services and embedded technologies, introduced HyperSpace to simplify and improve the mobile experience for users by enabling them to instantly launch important web-based applications, automatically connect to the best available network, extend battery life, and achieve new levels of uptime and security protection.
Cisco, the worldwide leader in networking hardware, software and services, embeds Paragon's NTFS for Linux in their Linksys-branded consumer routers, allowing them to provide a Network Attached Storage (NAS) feature. Original Device Manufacturer (ODM) Realtek is also integrating Paragon's NTFS for Linux into its offerings.
Lenovo, one of the world's largest manufacturers of PCs, is utilizing Paragon's NTFS for Linux. Lenovo includes Paragon's software as part of a system recovery solution that is shipping with ThinkPad laptops.
Smith Micro, a leading software developer and republisher, is currently marketing Paragon's NTFS for Mac to its registered customer base, which includes some of the world's leading companies.
ASUSTeK Computer is a leading provider of innovative IT solutions, with over 16 product lines, including desktop barebone systems, servers, notebooks, handhelds, network devices, broadband communications, LCD monitors, TVs, wireless applications, and CPT (chassis, power supply and thermal) products. Paragon's NTFS for Linux enables the Linux-based ASUS Eee PC with full read/write access to NTFS-formatted storage devices, allowing users to connect and use, for example, a Windows-formatted external USB hard drive.
For some OEMs focused on backup and recovery, customization has been the key driver for adopting Paragon's technologies.
For example, international system builder Lanix was looking for a solution that would provide file and complete system backup and recovery and easily integrate into its PCs and notebooks. Paragon's Drive Backup was selected, customized and rebranded as the Lanix Professional Recovery System. Lanix is also using Paragon's Deployment Manager, System Builder edition as their system manufacturing solution.
Snap-on Diagnostics manufactures and markets tools, test equipment and diagnostic solutions for professional tool users primarily in the automotive marketplace. When looking for a recovery solution for its flagship handheld diagnostic tablet, Snap-on turned to Paragon to deliver custom development services around its System Recovery solution.
"As we look towards 2009, Paragon's focus will be on maintaining close relationships with our channel partners to help make them more competitive, as well as continuously refining and adjusting our channel program to ensure that we are exceeding their expectations on business terms and technical support requirements," added Fedro.
