Margarita Mixs Jimmy Hite Nominated for AMP AwardTop mixer one of three nominees for "Spotted Excellence Award" (May 25, 2005)
The L.A. Studios, Inc., the nation's preeminent audio post-production company, announced today that chief mixer Jimmy Hite of its Margarita Mix de Santa Monica facility has been nominated for the "Spotted Excellence Award" by the The Association of Music Producers (AMP). Hite was recognized for his mix on Fallon/Minneapolis' "Interview" spot for United Airlines, which is available for viewing on the AMP Web site at http://www.ampnow.com.
The "Spotted Excellence Award" recognizes the mixer responsible for the best TV commercial that catches the audience's attention because of its superior sound quality. The winner will be announced at the fourth annual AMP Awards for Excellence in TV Commercial Mixing, June 6 in Beverly Hills at the Mosaic Hotel. In 2002 Hite received AMP's "Mixer of the Year" award.
Hite's extensive advertising background includes work on numerous spots for companies such as Budweiser, Sony Playstation 2, DirecTV, Ford, Epson, Nissan, Energizer and Chevrolet. In 2002, he received the "Best Audio Engineer" award at the 23rd annual Telly Awards for his audio post work on EDS' highly praised "Cat Herders" Super Bowl spot. Other high profile Super Bowl spots he has worked on include ads for Honda, Budweiser, Homestore.com, Nissan and E*Trade.
