MapMuse Announces Complete Redesign of Map Pages

  (January 27, 2012)

Reston, Virginia (PRWEB) January 27, 2012

MapMuse, Inc., a leading web mapping and online directory service, today announced the launch of its newly redesigned map pages. The new maps, which locate thousands of diverse brands and interests across the globe, utilize the latest design techniques and programming languages to enhance user interactivity and promote sharing via social networks.

Among other things, the new map pages feature:
A significantly larger map that automatically resizes to fill your browsers width
A prominent legend that suggests related topics to add to each map
A link-based list of locations on the map that automatically repopulates as you zoom
The ability to bookmark and save a map to a unique URL
Facebook, Twitter, and Email buttons for sharing saved maps

Were extremely excited about unveiling the new map design, says Mike Pilon, owner of MapMuse. By combining the latest applications of Web 2.0 with our mapping services, we feel weve taken a giant step toward becoming the go-to page for locating the brands and interests that have filled our maps and made us so popular over the past twelve years.

The redesign, which required several weeks of intensive development and testing, primarily focuses on improving user experience by making navigation more intuitive and content more accessible. For example, if a user were to look up Dog Trainers under the old design, they would be directed to an isolated map of dog trainers in their area. Under the new map design, the user is presented with the option to add related topics to the map, such Dog Walkers, Pet Sitters, Kennels, Dog Parks, and Pet Waste Removal Services. Our goal isnt to overwhelm people with information, but to make useful additions to the maps readily available should a user want them, says Pilon. Often, users dont know exactly what theyre looking for until they find it.

Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, MapMuse has been providing the general public with interactive maps of brands and interests since 2000. The site has made it a goal to map any topic that can conceivably be geolocated, and their thousands of maps run the gamut from the very broad (e.g. Hotels, Beaches, Italian Restaurants ) to the very specific (e.g. Ice Hotels, Nude Beaches, Restaurants featured on the TV show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives). MapMuse has also entered the mobile applications market over the past few years, creating iPhone and Android locator apps for some of their more popular topics.
