MapMuse Announces 2012 Update to Man v. Food Restaurant Locator App

  (January 12, 2012)

Reston, Virginia (PRWEB) January 12, 2012

MapMuse today announced the release of its 2012 update to the Man v. Food Restaurant Locator app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The app, a map-based directory and review platform of restaurants featured on the popular Food Network program starring Adam Richman, now features 308 locations that users can read about and connect with, including all locations from the fourth season.

The whole premise of the app is to connect fans of Man v. Food with the restaurants theyve seen on the show, says Mike Pilon, owner of MapMuse. If Adam eats a five-pound Reuben on TV, and fans want to try it out for themselves, then by all means they should have the opportunity to do so. The Man v. Food show, which at the time of its 2008 debut received the Food Networks highest ratings ever, follows Richmans gastronomic adventures as he seeks out the best oversized dishes served in American restaurants.

Although the name and general location of each featured restaurant is provided at some point during the program, finding the exact address (not to mention the website, phone number, etc.) can require painstaking research. The Man v. Food Restaurant Locator readily provides this information, along with a handful of other features aimed to enrich the user experience. For example, in addition to supplying web links, driving directions, and contact details for each of the restaurants, the app comes with handy mobile features such as one-touch dialing and emailing. Users are also encouraged to submit photos and reviews of the dishes they eat directly from their mobile devices. Think of it as a specialized Yelp-type platform, catered toward fans of the show, says Pilon.

Judging by the apps popularity so farits seen around 100 downloads per week since its 2010 releasethis new update will likely be welcomed by fans of the show. The user base has been relatively active thus far, regularly submitting reviews and photos for many of the restaurants in the apps database. Dont be shy, says Pilon. We love when people share their experiences at these restaurants, good or bad. Fans with Droids wont have to wait long to get in on the fun; MapMuse is expected to release an Android version of the Man v. Food Restaurant Locator sometime in early 2012.

MapMuse, an internet and app development company based out of Reston, VA has a long history of developing apps based on food TV shows. Among its App Store catalog, one can find titles such as the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives Locator, the No Reservations Restaurant Locator, the Best Thing I Ever Ate Locator, and the Top Chef Restaurant Locator.

The company also offers web-based map alternatives to the apps on its website,
