Man arraigned in NYPD officer's shooting deathMan wanted in NC is arraigned in NY police officer's shooting death; 3 more await arraignment
NEW YORK (AP) ' A man accused of the cold-blooded slaying of a New York Police Department officer has been ordered held without bail.
Lamont Pride appeared in court shackled late Tuesday. He didn't speak in court. His co-defendants are awaiting arraignment.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says they face murder charges.
New York police say Officer Peter Figoski was killed early Monday during a botched armed robbery by Pride and four other men of a marijuana dealer living in a basement apartment in Brooklyn. They say Pride already was wanted in a non-fatal shooting in North Carolina but remained on the streets because arrest warrants didn't require his return there.
There was no answer to calls at a Greensboro, N.C., address where Pride told police he lived, and no phone is listed for a Brooklyn home.
