Making an AutoLISP File - Part 1

A Skill Every CAD Pro Needs to Know By Jos van Doorn
This is going to be fun. We're going to make an AutoLISP application that makes an AutoLISP file for making a drawing.

The drawing has been made in AutoCAD. An AutoLISP application for making that drawing is wanted. The application will be made by a program.

We already mentioned the five steps for making a
program. These five steps also apply for making an AutoLISP application. These are the steps:

1. research
2. diagrams
3. writing code
4. testing
5. corrections

We follow these steps. Let's start with research. Let's establish what entities can be found in a drawing. And how these entities can be made.

In a drawing the following entities can be found:

- LINE
- CIRCLE
- ARC
- TEXT
- SOLID
- LWPOLYLINE
- POLYLINE
- INSERT
- DIMENSION
- MTEXT
