Maine cops seek clues after body found in storage

Maine police seek clues, await results of DNA tests on remains found in storage unit By The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) ' Maine State Police want to speak to people who lived in the same apartment complex as a woman who went missing 28 years ago and whose remains are believed to have been found in a Lewiston storage unit.

Spokesman Steve McCausland says Kitty Wardwell lived at Greenwood Gardens Apartments in Holden when she disappeared in 1983.

Police are awaiting positive identification on remains found Friday in an unplugged freezer in a unit rented by her boyfriend, Frank Julian. Julian died Oct. 1 at the age of 80.

Police say Julian had told investigators he last saw the 29-year-old Wardwell after an argument in June 1983, when he dropped her off at a motel in Salem, N.H.

McCausland says Julian also rented an apartment in the same complex.
