Magma CardBus System Now Supports Mac OS X

CardBus-based PCI expansion works with OS X 10.2.2 By Dave Nagel
According to Magma, the latest release of Mac OS X--version 10.2.2--now adds support for the company's CardBus PCI expansion systems. The expansion systems are used for notebook computers that need to access PCI-based hardware, particularly audio and video editing systems.

Magma says it has been working with Apple and Digidesign to bring about this compatibility with Mac OS X. (Digidesign announced last month that it was working on an OS X release of Pro Tools.) Previously, Magma's CardBus PCI expansion systems worked only with Mac OS 9 and Windows. Magma's PCI expansion systems for notebook computers offer anywhere from one to four PCI cards, half- or full-length. They attach to notebook computers via a CardBus adapter.

prices for CardBus PI expansion systems range from $995 to $1,345, depending on the number of slots and the specific configuration. For more information, visit http://www.magma.com.
