Macworld: It Begins! All of life's questions to be answered in mere hours!
We've already seen a few details of the new iMacs from Time Magazine, along with some early announcements from third-party developers. We'll be covering all of Apple's announcements as Steve Jobs delivers his keynote address to the throngs of Mac fans at the Macworld Expo today.
For those of you who have not yet read the iMac story, Time Canada has revealed the first photographs of the new iMac, which will be announced later today at the Macworld conference in San Francisco. In an article in the online edition, a shot of the machine reveals a semispherical base with a chrome neck supporting a flat-panel display. The article doesn't say anything about the processor or graphics capabilities of the new consumer machine, but it does say the new high-end model will ship with a DVD burner.
The new iMacs are described as being priced at $1,300 to $1,800, depending on configuration. We'll bring you official pricing details when they are made available later today. The article describes the base of the machine as 26.4 cm in diameter with a chrome neck that swivels while maintaining the angle of the display.
So far, news announcements on the professional front have included Studio Artist 2.0 and a cross-platform version of Avid Xpress DV, as well as Adobe GoLive 6 and LiveMotion 2 for OS X.
