Macromedia Ships Contribute 2

Web content management tool supports Mac OS X By Dave Nagel
Macromedia has released its new version of Contribute, the company's Web content management suite. The new 2.0 release, which was not expected to ship until next month, adds Mac OS X support, as well as enhancements to performance and functionality. It's available now for Mac OS X and Windows.

Contribute is a tool for updating and managing content on existing sites for use by teams of content creators. The Mac OS X version gains an Aqua interface and integration with Apple's .Mac service. Aside from new platform support, other new features including faster site connections, support for SFTP and drag and drop integration of PayPal for accepting payments. The Windows version also gains FlashPaper functionality.

Contribute 2.0 is available now for $99 for Mac OS X and Windows. Upgrades are available for a limited time for $9.99 for Windows users ($49 after Sept. 30). Multi-seat licenses are also available for $399 for five copies and $749 for 10 copies. Education pricing is $79 per license. For more information, visit
