Macromedia Director Gets UpdateShockwave Player to run on OS X
The main enhancement in the new version of Director is antialiasing in 3D objects. The antialiasing applies itself to an object in rest. For the purpose of performance, antialiasing does not get applied on objects in motion. The new antialiasing feature works in both hardware and software.
The new OS X-native Shockwave plugin will also support this antialiasing feature. In a prepared statement, macromedia said, "Macromedia is committed to bringing its authoring and player products to Mac OS X, and OS X users will be able to natively experience sophisticated, 3D and rich media content with Macromedia Shockwave Player." No date has been announced for any of Macromedia's OS X ports, except for Freehand, which shipped last year for OS 9 and OS X.
The new version of Director also includes compatibility for Windows XP. For more information, visit http://www.macromedia.com.
