Macromedia Co-Sponsors Game Trusts Casual Game Contest

Entries surpass two dozen in one week (March 04, 2005)

Game Trust, the leading platform developer to manage premium casual games, today announced that Macromedia has joined Shockwave.com as a co-sponsor of the Game Trust ?Casual Game Evolution Challenge. Open to any and all game developers, the contest seeks to identify the best single-player Shockwave game concepts for online, tournament, and download play.

?With the addition of Macromedia, casual game developers working in Macromedia Director from around the world have an opportunity to win recognition from the leading technology provider, leading distribution outlet, and leading platform in one contest, said Adeo Ressi, CEO of Game Trust. ?We have already seen two dozen exciting submissions for word games, puzzles and other casual game genres. It is our goal at Game Trust to provide developers with a once in a lifetime opportunity to get the recognition, revenue, and distribution for their casual game. If you have a great idea, you can win.

The ?Casual Game Evolution Challenge is designed to help developers successfully release their games and to help the casual game market evolve with innovative new game concepts. Five finalists will be awarded Game Trust licensing contracts with a revenue share and distribution to 130 million casual game players worldwide including an exclusive premiere on Shockwave.com. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a specially modified, high-end Vespa.


The ?tricked out Vespa will be on display for all developers to see at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and the International Game Developers Festival (IGF) in San Francisco (GDC Booth #141). Developers can register and submit game concepts at www.gametrust.com by filling out an entry form or at the GDC/IGF event. The finalists will be announced on March 21st, 2005, and the Grand Prize will be awarded to one developer on March 28th, 2005. Fame, fortune, and a great ride await the winner.

Any game concept with a storyboard and preliminary game graphics can be submitted as well as completed games. Representatives from Game Trust, Shockwave.com, and Macromedia will evaluate games based on their potential for commercial success, innovative storyline, and "fun factor." The winner must agree to complete all versions of the game in exchange for the Grand Prize.
