Mackie Designs and Universal Audio today announced Macintosh platform support for the UAD-1 DSP Card and Powered Plug-Ins Pro. Mackie is a manufacturer of digital and analog audio products. Universal Audio makes recording equipment and DSP hardware.

The Powered Plug-Ins Pro bundle includes a suite of plugins that use the UAD-1, a PCI-based DSP card. The Powered Plug-Ins Pro bundle for the Macintosh is the same as the PC version and includes the UAD-1 DSP card; Kind of Loud's RealVerb Pro; 1176LN and LA-2A Compressor emulations; EQ-1 EQ module; CX-1 compressor module; MD-1 modulated delay; and RS-1 Room Simulator module.

There will also be two new plugins available for the Macintosh later this year called Nigel and Pultec EQP-1A. Nigel is a guitar processor, and Pultec is a program equalizer. Both will be free for registered Macintosh users of the UAD-1.

In separate news, Universal Audio today announced a new microphone and instrument preamplifier. The 2108 includes a balanced microphone input and hi-z instrument input with circuitry based on the 1176LN compressor/limiter. It will be available in February for $1,695. The UAD-1 with Powered Plug-Ins sells for $995. Mackie will distribute the product. For more information, visit
