.Mac Subscriptions Continue To Climb

Apple says subscriptions top 180,000 By Dave Nagel
Apple today announced that subscriptions to its .Mac service now top 180,000. The new total is an 80,000 subscription increase over the total reported two weeks ago by Apple.

The new subscription figures come on the heels of the release of iSync public beta, which was released this weekend. The software synchronizes data between desktop Macs and portable devices, such as Palm OS-compatible handhelds and Apple's own iPod. The software can also synchronize data between multiple desktop systems but requires a .Mac subscription for this capability.

The .Mac service also includes a e-mail address, 100 MB iDisk space, personal Web hosting and publishing services for Apple's iCal calendar software and iPhoto photo albums, as well as other services. For more information, visit
