Mac Film Gimp Gets Update

New release adds drag and drop support for graphics files By Dave Nagel
Mac Film Gimp has been updated to version 0.13-3. Film Gimp is an open-source 16-bit image editor for a variety of Unix platforms, targeted especially toward film editors. Mac Film Gimp is a special application specifically for Mac OS X that operates as both an installer and launcher for Film Gimp so that the user doesn't have to access the application through a terminal application. It also verifies, updates and uninstalls Film Gimp software.

Mac Film Gimp itself, developed by Andy Prock, has received two updates in the last couple of weeks. The latest release, 0.13-3, includes support for Apple's X11 windowing environment. (It would previously launch into XDarwin by default.) It also adds drag and drop support for graphics files. Users can now drag a graphic file over the Mac Film Gimp application, which with then automatically open the image in Film Gimp (launching X11 in the process, if it's not already running).

Film Gimp and Mac Film Gimp are available for free and require an environment like Apple X11, XDarwin or Orobor OS X to run. We have instructions for installing the program at For more information or to download the software, visit
