MTI Film and Panasonic to Demonstrate P2 Digital Acquisition Dailies WorkflowDemonstrations on March 31 at MTI Film, Hollywood, will feature the newly-released Control Dailies DA. (March 23, 2009) Panasonic will conduct a joint demonstration of a revolutionary new dailies processing workflow leveraging the advantages of the Panasonic P2 file-based process with the award-winning efficiency and simplicity of Control Dailies. The two companies will host five demonstration sessions on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at MTI Film's Hollywood office. Reservations are required.
MTI Film's newly-released Control Dailies for Digital Acquisition has opened the power and flexibility of Control Dailies to digital camera capture projects. Control Dailies DA facilitates the transfer of digitally acquired media at faster-than-real-time speed to various video and file-based outputs, including video tape, DVD, Blu-ray and DnxHD. Control Dailies DA creates an environment of high efficiency for both the assistant and the colorist, with concurrent architecture and tools that drastically decrease the time it takes the assistant to enter metadata and synchronize dual system audio.
The demonstration will show how Control Dailies DA can be used as part of the larger Control Dailies ecosystem - with Control Color and Convey-to form a complete, tapeless solution for processing digitally-acquired dailies. In this workflow, the DA Head is used to ingest and decode digitally-acquired source media. Control Color is then employed to perform primary color correction or to apply LUTs prepared during production. Control Dailies is used to synchronize audio and lay-off up to three output streams to HD or standard definition tape as, simultaneously, Convey prepares required digital deliverables , such as DNxHD for editorial and DVD or Blu-Ray for dailies review.
"This innovative workflow is easy to learn and use and helps facilities realize a sharp increase in the speed of Dailies delivery across a variety of formats," said MTI Film Product Manager David McClure.
Panasonic's P2 HD VariCam 3700 and VariCam 2700 combine the look and film-like operation of the industry-renowned VariCam with high-resolution AVC-Intra solid-state recording. The native 2.2M 1080p VariCam 3700 captures high-resolution data files with 10-bit, 4:2:2 AVC-Intra 100 recording and a full RGB 4:4:4 dual link output. Its new Film Rec 600% gamma function maps the camera's entire imager to deliver images the widest dynamic range and highest color bit depth, without the extensive management and costs of other high-resolution camera solutions. No rendering, no de-bayering, no delays! P2 VariCam camcorders allow you to manage stunning high-resolution images with a fast, reliable file-based workflow you can depend on.
MTI Film and Panasonic will be demonstrating Control Dailies DA with digital media from Panasonic's new AJ-HPX3700 P2 HD VariCam(tm) Master-Quality Camcorder. The project will move from capture through transfer and synchronization and finally output to personalized Blu-ray deliverables.
