MOTU Announces Digital Performer for Mac OS X

Pre-release version to debut in January By Dave Nagel
Mark of the Unicorn has updated its release schedule for Digital Performer for Mac OS X. The company now says the software will debut in pre-release form at the NAMM show in January. MOTU had previously said that the software would ship for Mac OS X by the end of 2002.

MOTU has not released detailed information on the forthcoming Mac OS X version of its flagship, Mac-only audio workstation software. According to MOTU, Digital Performer for Mac OS X will include a MIDI engine that "fully adopts Mac OS Xs advanced MIDI services, collectively referred to as 'CoreMIDI.'" These features include Mac OS Xs high-resolution MIDI time-stamping services and MIDI device and patch list management features, which MOTU helped to develop.
