MEI Releases Roundhouse 3.5 for NEXPO 2004Ad tracking system offers enhanced automation and functionality (June 08, 2004)
Managing Editor Inc. (MEI), a Philadelphia-based provider of software solutions for the publishing industry, today announced the release of Roundhouse 3.5 Ad Tracking System which offers complete support for InDesign CS, QuarkXPress 6, and MultiAd Creator 7. The newest version comes with an expansive new feature set and will be shown at NEXPO 2004 in Washington, DC.
In addition to the sophisticated deadline management functions of Roundhouse, the new "time-spent-on-ad" function allows a threshold to be set so that users know when they are exceeding a time limit for working on a particular ad. Thresholds can be set based on job type and assigned difficulty.
A new AutoPurge module automatically deletes files according to age or usage based on specific user-determined criteria, helping sites automate the management of production file shares and save time and server space.
Roundhouse 3.5 has the ability to recognize the difference between booked and actual size differences and to provide feedback to managers about what ads were made to wrong size, even if ads were imported from outside the system.
With the help of QuickSilver, MEI's production hub for publishing organizations, Roundhouse 3.5 offers modules and connections to integrate a site's production suite. For example, Roundhouse 3.5 Liner Generator module can automatically create PDFs of classified liners for layout in MEI's Page Director Classified Layout System. These liners are composed using InDesign CS and can be based on existing templates. In addition, all of the fields required for layout operations within a QuickSilver system can be made available directly within the Roundhouse interface.
Roundhouse 3.5 also includes the following new features:
- Support for row-based page geometry descriptions-designed to serve users who sell ads using rows instead of columns.
- Capacity to automatically import composite, EPS, PDF, part files, or ad copy files and associate them directly with Roundhouse jobs, simplifying system integration tasks and increasing productivity.
- Complete support for bleed-ad and doubletruck ad creation. At the press of a button, a user can create a doubletruck ad which bleeds in any or all directions for a specific paper size using a designated column model including margin and bleed values. Roundhouse handles the math so ads are the right size every time.
NEXPO 2004 attendees can see the new Roundhouse 3.5 at Booth 2439. For more information on Roundhouse, visit http://www.maned.com/roundhouse or call 215-886-5662.
