MDdatacor and ACOFP Partner to Position Members for Medical Home(March 27, 2012)
ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/27/12 -- MDdatacor (MDD) announced today it has been selected as the vendor of choice to partner with members of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) to offer the Medical Home Quality Markers program, the college's version of a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). The program is offered as a benefit to ACOFP members to position them to become recognized as a PCMH by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) accrediting body.
The program will be supported with MDdatacor's technology platform which will focus on patient data management and reporting for medical home recognition. The web-enabled platform requires no additional hardware or software purchase.
"This is the most comprehensive approach I've seen by a professional organization to provide its members everything necessary to become a medical home," said Dr. David Hanekom, chief medical officer at MDdatacor. "We're excited to bring tools that are proven to drive quality improvement at the individual, practice and organization-wide level."
A differentiator of MDdatacor is that it pulls clinical information from both structured data sources such as electronic medical records (EMRs), but also from unstructured data sources such as transcription notes and free-form progress note text.
"Not all of our members have EMRs, but they all need to measure quality data," said Dr. Carol Henwood, ACOFP governor and national spokesperson for medical home and quality care. "We appreciate the innovative technology that allows data to be extracted from the written word. We've not seen any other system that can mine data from written correspondence."
MDdatacor's proprietary technology also helps physicians identify care opportunities on the individual or practice levels. As data is collected, it is analyzed in a HIPAA-compliant database against evidence-based guidelines for both process and outcome measures. Reports can reflect multiple views of performance, including progress toward goals at the individual and practice levels.
"MDD came highly recommended because of their demonstrated results in affecting improvements in patient care and quality," said Henwood. "We couldn't be more excited about this partnership."
