M-Audio Ships Transit

Portable I/O device supports AC3 and DTS passthrough By Dave Nagel
M-Audio has released Transit, a portable audio I/O upgrade for USB-based systems. The new device offers analog and digital input and output, including support for AC3 and DTS passthrough. It's available now for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows.

Transit offers 24-bit, 96 kHz recording and playback. It includes 1/8-inch stereo analog/optical digital input, 1/8-inch stereo line/headphone output and TOSlink optical output for AC3 and DTS passthrough. The input accommodates self-powered microphones, and the device includes a 3.5 mm male to TOSlink female adapter. It measures 2.2" x 3.6" x 0.9" and weighs in at 1.6 ounces.

Transit supports Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows and requires 128 MB RAM for 96 kHz operation. It sells for $129.95. For more information, visit
