Lyrtech Launches CPA-II Pro Audio Development Platform(October 29, 2004)
Lyrtech Inc. announces the launch and demonstration of its new CPA-II pro audio development platform at the upcoming 117th Audio Engineering Society Convention in San Francisco. This platform will empower engineers to migrate a variety of audio products to a DSP-based platform more easily and more efficiently than the solutions that are currently available on the market.
"We clearly see a growing demand for DSP development support for professional audio applications in the market today," said Gerard Andrews, Texas Instrument, DSP audio solutions manager. "Lyrtech's CPA-II will significantly reduce development time for companies that wish to migrate to a DSP-based platform by providing a versatile, high-quality audio platform, which then allows developers to concentrate on their algorithm development."
Targeting applications, such as professional audio mixers, electric instruments and karaoke and slot machines, the CPA-II development platform features a powerful architecture meeting all the needs of professional audio application developers. The main features include a full set of analog and digital audio inputs and outputs, 32 ports in all, a MIDI port for a direct interface with musical instruments and controllers, and an analog port for the control of foot pedals and external switches. The CPA-II can also be loaded with Lyrtech's Audio Streaming and Wavetable Synthesis Solution for embedded audio and sound application development related to gaming applications such as slot machines, pachinko machines, video game and karaoke machines.
"The new best-in-class CPA-II pro audio development platform is intended for different markets, such as audio broadcasting and encoding, studio applications, modification and generation of musical effects, and embedded sound generation," said Louis Chouinard, Lyrtech's Chief Technology Officer. "Professional audio application developers will definitely appreciate its performance and versatility, which we will demonstrate at AES 2004."
Lyrtech's CPA-II is a stand-alone audio DSP development board based on TI's TMS320C6713 low-cost floating point DSP. The board features 24-bit at up to 192 KHz ADCs, DACs and a digital I/O that provides performance levels oriented toward high-end consumer and pro audio equipment. The board is compatible with TI's Code Composer Studio(TM) integrated development environment and the eXpressDSP(TM) standard algorithm framework. In addition, Lyrtech provides an application framework that includes audio processing libraries and links to system-level development tools such as Simulink(R).
The 117th Audio Engineering Society (AES) convention, which sports the "Art of Audio" theme, will occur in San Francisco, from October 28 to October 31, 2004. The convention, a perennial must-attend event for thousands of international audio industry professionals, will feature a series of tutorials, workshops, papers, exhibits and special events. To view the demonstration of the CPA-II, stop by the Lyrtech booth (#1608).
