Lyrics and Guitar Tab Site GuitarParty.com Expands for U.S. Users

(July 16, 2012)

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND -- (Marketwire) -- 07/16/12 -- GuitarParty.com, the Iceland-based guitar tab and lyrics website, has recently announced that it is expanded its services to cater for Internet users in the U.S. GuitarParty.com has been giving its users in Iceland access to a premium selection of lyrics and tablature since 2008, and now the site plans to expand the selection to include popular lyrics and tablature by American artists.

Kjartan Sverrisson, CEO of GuitarParty.com, explains his plans for the U.S. market: "We have been looking at the U.S. market for quite some time with the goal of opening up. Doing so this summer is very exciting and challenging at the same time. The competition is strong, but we believe our product offering is very competitive and will appeal to our target audience better than those of our competitors."

GuitarParty's unique offering is based on crowdsourcing lyrics from the online community, building a collection of songs needed by the users and thus saving them considerable time when sifting through larger collections of songs with various flaws and errors.

Among new features planned for the site are guitar lessons for beginners and those looking to shape up their skills as guitar players. The videos are all recorded from three different angles, allowing the user to select the angle that suits at any given time without interrupting playback of the video. Video guitar lessons are expected to open up early 3rd quarter this year.

"Lyrics are among the most searched for words on the Internet today and currently there are several good services that provide users with legal ways of obtaining lyrics for personal use. However, an offering of lyrics in combination with chords for guitar and ukulele can and needs to be improved upon and that is what we are going to do," added Kjartan Sverrisson.

GuitarParty.com was originally started as a hobby between two electrical engineers when they needed a way to create songbooks for all occasions during college. The site quickly grew in popularity among their fellow students as well among Icelandic artists, who saw value in having access to a repository of songs whenever they needed. GuitarParty.com has from day one worked with STEF (Icelandic Copyright Bureau) and pays royalties for the use of every song registered on the site.
