Lyon Video Mobile Units Provide Fujinon HD Field Lenses To Major Sports Network

Lyon Videos Fujinon XA101x8.9BESM, XA87x9.3BESM, HA22x7.8BERM, and HA13x4.5ERM HD Lenses Offer Clients Longest and Widest Shots Possible

COLUMBUS, OHIO, December 4, 2006 ? Over the past decade, mobile truck company Lyon Video has amassed over 60 Fujinon lenses carried on its fleet of six trucks. While Lyon Videos MU3, MU4, and MU5 mobile units are SDTV trucks, two of its new trucks, the MU6 and MU7, are equipped for HD.

Lyon Videos Fujinon lenses are used with a mix of Grass Valley Worldcam Mark II 1080i/720p switchable HDTV cameras and Ikegami HK-388 SDTV cameras. Lyon Video recently took delivery of eight additional HD field lenses. The eight units include six XA87x9.3BERMs and two XA101x8.9BESM, all of which have digital image stabilization technology.

"This was a very carefully considered purchase," said Bob Lyon, president of Columbus, Ohio-based Lyon Video. "What appealed to us in particular about these HD lenses is that were able to offer our clients the longest telephoto capability as well as the widest angle. And its image stabilization technology really helps our camera operators produce outstanding pictures without jitter even when zooming across the field to get in close on the quarterback or batters eyes."

Lyon Videos client list includes: ESPN HD/ESPN; ABC; Fox Sports Net regional sports cable network; and FOX Sports. They also provide trucks directly to team ownership, including the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons, both NBA teams, for their home and away games. Lyon Videos mobile units have also covered NCAA College Football in HD; Major League Soccer games, Masters Golf tournaments, ice skating, and kick boxing events, as well as "Antiques Roadshow" episodes produced by WGBH in Boston for PBS and PMTV.

"When clients ask about the lenses on our trucks, we just tell them we have Fujinon lenses and the length of the lens, and thats all the assurance they need," said Lyon Video Operation Manager Chad Snyder. "They know that with Fujinon, theyre getting a quality piece of equipment, with capabilities that often exceed their minimum requirements."

Like many major mobile truck companies, Lyon Video is seeing growing demand for its HD mobile units. The trucks are frequently on the road moving from coast to coast, working in a myriad of weather and travel conditions.

"Its not uncommon for one of our trucks to be in Canada in the snow, then drive to the next job in Southern Florida or Vegas where it may be 105 degrees," said Snyder. "Despite the extremes of temperature and the constant set-up and striking of production equipment, the Fujinon lenses always perform reliably. In one instance, cameramen left the HD cameras uncovered in a flash rain storm in Florida, and the lenses continued to work."

"Were loyal Fujinon customers because the lenses and customer service are very dependable," continued Lyon, "And its advantageous to use the same lenses and accessories interchangeably on any of our cameras and mobile units."
