Lost Planet Edits Oscar Nominated Short FilmShort Directed by Gary McKendry and edited by Paul Martinez (January 28, 2005)
The short film, ?Everything In This Country Must, directed by Gary McKendry, has been nominated for a 2005 Oscar for Best Live-Action Short Film. Paul Martinez of Lost Planet was the editor.
Based on the short story by Colum McCann, ?Everything In This Country Must focuses on a young British soldier in Northern Ireland who is involved in an accident that kills a mother and her child. Later, the same soldier helps a farmer and his daughter save their drowning horse.
Winners will be revealed during the 77th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 27th at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
With his flair for visual storytelling and precise sense of rhythm, Editor Paul Martinez has contributed to award-winning feature and short films, documentaries, commercials and music videos. Martinez was an assistant editor on films such as Don Juan DeMarco and Braveheart, and worked with Lost Planet Founder Hank Corwin as an Associate Editor and collaborator on high-profile films including U-Turn, The Horse Whisperer and Snow Falling on Cedars.
Martinez has cut commercials for such noted campaigns as American Express, Toyota, Expedia, AT&T and Fox Sports, the latter of which was honored by the British D+AD, Clios, Cannes, The One Show Awards and AICE.
