Logitech Wins Two IDSA Industrial Design Awards

KeyCase Keyboard and diNovo Media Desktop win IDEA04 Awards (June 25, 2004)

Logitech, the world's leading manufacturer of computer peripherals, today announced it has been awarded two 2004 Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The Logitech KeyCase Keyboard, a PDA QWERTY keyboard that doubles as a protective cover, was named a Gold winner in the computer equipment category, while the Logitech diNovo Media Desktop, a combination keyboard, mouse and multifunction MediaPad, received a Silver award in the same category.

The winners were announced in the July 5 issue of BusinessWeek, which hit newsstands today. Logitech has now won eight IDEA awards in the past two years. "We're thrilled that IDSA has honored our products," said Guerrino De Luca, president and chief executive officer of Logitech. "Emphasis on product design is a defining characteristic of the Logitech culture and brand. These awards certainly help validate our team's hard work and focus in that area."

Logitech continues to partner with premier industrial design firms that balance cutting-edge style and practicality in their designs. In working with its partners, Logitech has been able to continually introduce innovative products that are visually appealing, comfortable, intuitive and personal.

Logitech KeyCase Keyboard

is part productivity device, part protective casing. It's made of durable, lightweight, spill-proof fabric that makes it easy to transport and use in any environment with a PDA. The flexible fabric, made by United Kingdom-based ElekSen, has the ability to sense applied pressure or keystrokes, and then send signals through its conductive fibers. The fabric is pliable enough to fold into a protective shell for a PDA, sturdy enough to survive a blow, and resilient enough to wipe clean.

"The Logitech the KeyCase is clearly a revolution and breakthrough in technology, usability and functionality," said IDSA's Donald Brown, a design strategy specialist for Xerox Corp. "Designed with real fingertips in mind, this full-size folding 'conductive fiber' keyboard sets the standards for the mobile users and increased productivity. Aside from the brand positioning and leadership value for Logitech, the real winner of this product is the user. I applaud the designers and their thoughtful creative solution that really embodies the essence of the portable digital lifestyle."

diNovo Media Desktop

diNovo Media Desktop

is a daring departure from the traditional keyboard and mouse in numerous respects. For example, the wireless mouse docks into a recharging cradle that also serves as a desktop PC hub for Bluetooth wireless devices. A standalone number pad has a dual function, also serving as a media remote, equipped with an LCD screen. The diNovo Media Desktop has a sleek low-profile design, squared corners, and a titanium-like finish-- a contemporary look that allows it to blend equally well into the flat-screen modern office, or the media PC living room.
