Local Man Rallies Broncos Fans Through Social MediaGoal of 15,000 Fans by Game Time (January 12, 2012)
DENVER, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 01/12/12 -- An Erie, Colo. life-long Broncos fan is executing a plan to amass 15,000 fans by kickoff of Saturday's game between the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots on the Facebook page he's created.
Employed by day as a creative director for a global teleconferencing provider, Kevin Horn has taken his grassroots excitement for and belief in the Broncos to the Internet. What started as a t-shirt project and online forum for family and friends last week has morphed into part social media experiment, part fundraising effort for the Tim Tebow Foundation. But for Horn it's mostly about bringing together "Broncos Believers" to show support for the team as they travel to Foxboro, Mass. for Saturday's game as underdogs once again.
"I've created a logo -- BEL15VER -- and yes, the '15' stands for Tebow, but it's also about taking the game quarter by quarter, especially the last 15 minutes," said Horn. "It's about believing in the team and keeping things positive. Getting 15,000 fans by Saturday is a lofty goal but reinforces the idea that anything is possible."
In a few short days the Facebook site has attracted more than 2,000 followers and is growing exponentially. Horn has created an online store to sell his t-shirts of which 15 percent of proceeds go to the Tim Tebow Foundation.
A local furniture retailer, Woodley's Fine Furniture, has also adopted the campaign and is excited for the opportunity to support the cause by giving away Horn's BEL15VER t-shirts at all six of its Denver Front Range locations this weekend.
