Lightworks Adds Seth Hallen To Its TeamJoins company as VP of North American Operations (June 28, 2005)
Lightworks announces that Seth Hallen has joined the company as its VP of North American Operations. Hallen brings to the company over fifteen years of proven success in business development, marketing, sales and entrepreneurial savvy.
Hallens role at Lightworks is to make sure the U.S. market and Hollywood is aware of the vast technological capabilities the media company offers, particularly since its acquisition by Gee Broadcast. He will also introduce the benefits of Sharknet Networked Storage Solutions and the Gee Broadcast Geevs Server working with the Lightworks Touch. He explains, ?Lightworks is well known in the industry and has gone through many changes especially in the past five years. Its technology is now developed to a point where it is a true competitor in the market. Around the world, its much better known and well established. The US market, however, isnt as aware of the current technology as it should be, especially outside the feature film industry.
Hallens approach is grassroots. His main directive is to reach a niche market of users, creating a personal relationship between Lightworks and editors. Lightworks celebrated a victory recently with Thelma Schoonmaker winning the Oscar for Best Editor. ?The Aviator was edited entirely on Lightworks, proving the system delivers an award winning performance. Hallen plans to reintroduce the product and technology to all the former Lightworks editors who have used it in the past. ?Based on many of the editors Ive been speaking to, they truly desire the proprietary interface that Lightworks has, and are very interested in trying it again because it is more intuitive to what an editors needs are, Hallen states.
After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1990, Hallen founded three highly successful marketing companies. In 2000, he was recruited to handle business development at Lightning Media in Hollywood, CA and executed sales and marketing for the company. Two years later, Hallen became the Director of Marketing and Business Development at the commercial production company, Big Picture Studios, producing television commercials and representing the companys director roster to ad agencies. He gained further experience in post production as Executive Vice President of Standard, a full service production and post facility in Los Angeles that has been associated with such prominent names as Disney, Showtime, CBS and Fox Sports. Just prior to joining Lightworks, Hallen was the Executive Producer of TalkShow.TV, a segmented talk/reality show broadcasted on cable, the internet and video-on-demand. The show addresses issues relevant to the 20-something demographic with topics such as entertainment, style, sex and sports. The position allowed him to personally oversee all phases of development, including the editorial process which gave him even more insight on editors needs in the television industry.
Hallen will be targeting feature film editors as well as post production departments of major studios and television networks in his campaign to make known the full extent of Lightworks capabilities. The success of recent films such as The Phantom of the Opera and the Academy Award winning The Aviator, speak in volumes for Lightworks great appeal. Upcoming films edited on Lightworks Touch such as Monster-In-Law and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy will continue to draw applause to Lightworks worldwide. Elsewhere, networked multi-camera production solutions have been highly successful in the production of TV drama and soaps.
Lightworks has been developing and supplying high end editing solutions for the film and television industry for over a decade. The latest product, Lightworks Touch, has already been used around the world on over twenty major motion pictures including ?The Aviator, ?The Phantom of the Opera, ?Monster in Law, ?The Libertine, ?Proof, and ?White Noise as well as on numerous commercials, a vast array of television programs, and a 5-hour Led Zeppelin DVD anthology. Lightworks, headquartered in London, also has offices in Los Angeles and Toronto. Lightworks, UK Ltd., was recently formed after the purchase of Lightworks by Gee Broadcast Systems, Ltd..
