LightWork Design and UGS Strengthen Long-Term PartnershipFull range of component technologies licensed for use across product line (October 11, 2004)
LightWork Design, the world's leading supplier of rendering solutions for developers of advanced 3D computer graphics software, has announced the strengthening of its partnership with UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, with a new long-term agreement between the two companies. The new agreement significantly extends the existing partnership and gives UGS access to the full suite of LightWorks products for use throughout its product range which includes NX, Solid Edge and Teamcenter. Under the terms of the agreement, LightWork Design becomes a Foundation Partner in the new UGS Partner Program.
UGS and LightWork Design are world leaders in their respective fields of expertise and have worked in successful partnership for many years. The strengthening of this partnership reinforces the commitment of both companies to provide UGS customers with powerful and easy-to-use rendering functionality. It also underlines the status of LightWorks as the industrys leading rendering engine.
The LightWorks rendering engine is unique in being designed from the outset for easy integration into CAD applications and is structured as a comprehensive suite of component products, each focusing on a specific area of rendering functionality, including: photorealistic rendering, lighting simulation, real-time rendering, non-photorealistic rendering, and real-world LWA product content.
"UGS has always been committed to supplying its customers with the best technology available to meet their product lifecycle requirements," said Chuck Grindstaff, executive vice president of PLM Products, UGS. "LightWork Design is recognized as the leading supplier of rendering technology and our long standing relationship has enabled UGS customers to improve communication and get their products to market faster by creating the worlds most photorealistic renderings in the shortest amount of time possible. We are confident that the agreement announced today will enable us to continue to meet our customers requirements for both interactive and software-based rendering for years to come."
Andy Chapman, CEO of LightWork Design, added, "Our two companies have had a successful partnership for many years now and it is excellent to see the growing support for our long-term commitment to component technology from one of the largest organizations in the industry. We are very pleased that the extended use of our LightWorks solutions will help even more users of UGS applications in their design work and we look forward to seeing the results."
