Leitch Brings Dynamic New HD/SD Portfolio to IBC 2005

Offering the industry's broadest line of HD products with new line-up (September 14, 2005)

At IBC 2005, Leitch Technology Corporation, a leading provider of SD/HD solutions for professional digital video, launches its broadest offering of new HD products in its IBC exhibits to date. The company will also show off its recent NAB product announcements that are now shipping to worldwide customers who are making the move to HD with Leitch.

With the industry's broadest line of HD/SD products, Leitch is pleased to announce the following at IBC 2005:

Tightly integrating its renowned Velocity editing software with its NEXIO server line to introduce news editing systems, Leitch will showcase its new VelocityNX, a full-featured HD/SD promotions craft editor for NEXIO environments, based on the powerful and flexible Velocity user interface; and the VelocityXNG, an HD/SD news editing system also based on the acclaimed Velocity user interface that is designed for journalists to use as a portable news desk in remote locations.

Leitch also introduces its NEXIO Content Manager, an FTP transfer application that enables mirroring of NEXIO content. Complementing the functionality of the Mirror Streamer with more features and less hardware, Content Manager allows for a variety of content protection schemes due to its flexible rules and capability. Typical uses include the sharing of content between two Leitch NEXIO server domains; transfer of content to a remote site to avoid issues during emergencies; and content backup to a Network Attached Storage (NAS) for protection.

To meet the needs of customers with larger routing requirements, Leitch announces the premiere of Platinum, its new advanced line of multi-format routing switchers for large routing applications. Providing high-quality signal routing up to 256x256 in 15RU and 512x512 in 28RU, Platinum further extends Leitch leadership in routers to the largest matrix sizes required for professional video and audio switching. Designed to provide high-quality signal routing for 24/7 operation, Platinum is ideal for network, local broadcaster, mobile production, cable, telco, military, government and corporate applications any environment that requires routing of a large number of signals.

The new XHD series will also be showcased. This family of products encompasses high-definition up, down and/or cross converter modules that perform many of the key functions of the X75HD in a compact, modular design. Various XHD modules are available in both NEO and 6800+ platforms and are ideal for applications requiring broadcast-quality, single-channel, motion-adaptive HDTV up, down and/or cross conversion. For the ultimate system design flexibility, the XHD up/down/cross converter combines broadcast-quality up, down and cross conversion functionality, allowing the user to convert SD and HD signals with a single module. For customers wanting the flexibility to convert any signal quickly and easily, the XHD multiple-path HDTV up/down/cross converter module offers maximum conversion performance, providing 100% dual-channel, HD multiple-path conversion in a modular package.

Leitch will also reveal OPTO+, a full range of fiber optics products. Housed in the 6800+ core processing and distribution platform, OPTO+ benefits from all the architectural advantages offered by this leading solution. Numerous modules will be announced within the CWDM and DWDM domains. OPTO+ delivers top-quality fiber solutions, in a minimal amount of space, and its unbeatable architecture allows natural cost advantages to both system-wide and individual application solutions. Maximum efficiency is possible through the platforms ability to mix and match technologies. All fiber modules can operate alongside any processing and/or distribution modules within the 6800+ frame, at the same time. Ease of configuration, ordering and general ease-of-use are also key advantages of OPTO+.

Leitch also introduces a new master control and branding family for SD and HD products ? ICONMASTER, ICONLOGO and ICONSTATION ? providing customers unrivaled choice for master control, channel branding, channel presentation applications and associated graphics. ICONMASTER, based on Leitchs industry-leading NEO modular platform, combines critical master control functions with multi-layer integrated branding. ICONMASTER is the only master control that can be combined with other advanced applications, such as NEO SuiteView multi-viewer series or NEO XHD upconverter series, to create the ultimate plug-and play-system ? all in the same frame. Leitchs ICONSTATION (formerly Inscriber IncaStation) is the first branding solution to combine logo insertion with multiple real-time data fed crawls and a squeezeback DVE for maximum channel branding impact. ICONLOGO (formerly LogoMotion II) is Leitchs modular branding solution based on the NEO platform and is ideal for channel branding applications such as time/temperature, still/animations, audio clip playback and text crawls for breaking news.

Leitch will also demonstrate new software and hardware products that provide customers advanced local and remote monitoring and control of Leitch and third-party equipment, including
* NUCLEUS, a next-generation, user-configurable real-time control panel designed to centralize the operational control of processing, branding and routing products
* SQM-STM new Streaming and Signal Quality Measurement (SQM) applications
* SNMP support across all core Leitch product lines
* Network monitoring and control of Leitch and third-party equipment using award-winning Navigator software and SNMP

New introductions from Videotek include the TVM-950HD HD/SD audio and video signal analyzer, the worlds only test and measurement device with simultaneous waveform views in an integrated XGA display and the flagship of the TVM series. Videotek also introduces the TVM-900 and TVM-850, which are built on the same platform as the TVM-950HD and provide new options to reach a broad market segment and meet any high-definition video and advanced audio signal analysis need. Also new at IBC will be the Videotek PTM-305 handheld personal test monitor, which provides portable convenience without sacrificing performance. This battery-powered, multi-function testing device includes a long list of features and is ideal for field production setups or equipment installations.

Leitch will also showcase a complete on-air graphics portfolio with newly acquired Inscribers HD graphics solutions.
