Lehigh Valley Health Network Wins Two National Awards With T-SystemT-System's DigitalShare Plays Integral Role Supporting Pennsylvania Health System's Emergency Medical Personnel at Large-Scale Sporting Event (May 15, 2012)
DALLAS, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 05/15/12 -- T-System, Inc., is proud to recognize Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) as the recipient of two distinguished awards that involve the innovative use of DigitalShare, a patient documentation solution for emergency medicine. LVHN was named a 2012 Laureate in the annual Computerworld Honors Program, and its medical professionals were honored with the NASCAR Teamwork Award for exceeding NASCAR's medical standards.
T-System's DigitalShare, powered by Shareable Ink®, allows clinicians to document patient encounters on familiar paper templates using intelligent Anoto digital pen technology that instantly converts handwritten information into digital data. The captured data generates clinical and process feedback and reports. Its real-time alerts, dashboards and reporting tools improve operational efficiency and care quality. LVHN, which treats more than 164,000 patients annually in its EDs, uses the emergency department (ED) solution to treat drivers and fans at Pocono Raceway events in Long Pond, Pa.
IDG's Computerworld Honors Program honors visionary applications of information technology promoting positive social, economic and educational change. LVHN was named in the award category of "Emerging Technology." LVHN specialists also received the NASCAR Teamwork Award for their outstanding work during the 2012 NASCAR Safety Summit in Charlotte, N.C.
"We're thrilled to be recognized nationally by Computerworld and NASCAR for our medical team and technology achievements. DigitalShare has helped us bring the emergency department to Pocono Raceway, where the closest hospital is a 30-minute drive. It plays an essential role in helping our ED professionals administer a higher standard of care," said Michael Wargo, R.N., administrator of emergency operations and public safety for LVHN and executive director of medical operations at Pocono Raceway.
"We congratulate Lehigh Valley Health Network for earning the dual awards that pay tribute to their performance and commitment to delivering patient care at Pocono Raceway using the most advanced emergency medical technology," said Robert Hitchcock, M.D., FACEP, T-System vice president and chief medical informatics officer. "DigitalShare can be leveraged in the ED as well as in a variety of unique care settings where clinicians are in need of an easy and convenient tool to support emergency medical response."
Health Management Technology magazine also named T-System's DigitalShare one of 2010's "Coolest Products" of the year.
