Landmark Survey of 120,000 Mobile App Users Reveals Wine Consumer Trends and Habits(March 08, 2011)

Hello Vino has published a new report titled "The Mobile Wine Consumer," which includes survey results and additional data identifying wine consumer behavior and trends. In an effort to deliver specific wine recommendations based on consumer preferences, 120,000 users were surveyed through the Hello Vino mobile app.
Growth in smartphone adoption continued during 2010 (IDC reports an increase of 74.4% from 2009), while consumers turned to their mobile devices to make educated purchase decisions. According to a recent survey conducted by Accenture, 73% of shoppers favor using their smartphone to handle simple tasks in stores compared to 15% who favor interaction with an employee.
"Mobile apps are transforming the wine industry," remarks Jim McNamee, Vice President of Marketing for Hello Vino. "Producers are able to reach consumers who are seeking wine recommendations through their smartphones, while app usage identifies consumer trends and habits."
Key questions answered by "The Mobile Wine Consumer" report include:

The survey was conducted by Hello Vino through their free mobile app between August and November, 2010. The report also includes analysis of mobile user activity during the 2010 calendar year.
