LaCie today announces that its award-winning 21-inch LCD monitor, the LaCie 321, and the ICS Remote Director on-screen proofing system have been certified according to the SWOP Proofing System Certification Program. SWOP (Specifications Web Offset Publications) is a trade organization that sets forth specifications and tolerances to help raise the level of quality of publication printing.

Ensuring the accuracy of color is of critical importance in manufacturing and printing. On-screen proofing allows graphics professionals to verify color accuracy directly on the monitor rather than waiting for a printed proof. This enables savings of both cost and time for the end user.

?The LaCie 321 monitor was designed with the needs of the color-conscious graphics professional in mind, says Daniel Mayer, LaCie Color Business Unit Manager. ?We are happy to extend to our customers the benefits of an on-screen proofing solution that delivers the accuracy and consistency that color professionals require.

?LaCie has an excellent reputation in the market and we are excited to offer our customers the latest SWOP certified configuration for Remote Director v3.0, says John Sweeney, ICS Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

LaCie 321 is the ideal display for on-screen proofing, thanks to the CRT-grade gamut of its 21-inch SA-Superfine TFT panel and 10-bit gamma correction tables. Tables are used to ensure precise hardware calibration of the display, a key step in ensuring color consistency across the graphics chain. The monitor is delivered with the LaCie blue eye pro automatic hardware calibration software, which not only reliably calibrates the display but also enables colorimetric environment switching and comprehensive monitor color evaluation. LaCie also offers the optional LaCie blue eye colorimeter, a third-generation sensor designed to accurately measure monitor colors.

Remote Director runs on commercially available hardware and allows multiple users to view and collaborate on proofs with all of the necessary tools for examining color, marking changes and giving final approval. It allows multiple users to view the same artwork and comment on content all without consideration for geographical borders.

About Remote Director
Remote Director is the first SWOP Certified monitor-based contract proofing system. Running on commercially available hardware, Remote Director software allows multiple reviewers in dispersed locations to view, collaborate and comment on color as well as content, and to build a digital record of the proofing process from start to finish including legal signoff. Reviewers can collaborate in real time or work at their own convenience, allowing photographers, agencies, clients, prepress shops and printers to communicate more effectively while accomplishing in hours what used to take days. Remote Director is distributed by the Pitman Company, Enovation Graphic Systems, H.A. Metzger, Inc., Mueller Graphic Supply and Tripp Co. in the United States and Cascades Resources in Canada.
