LYON Video Builds 3DHD-Capable Production Truck with Grass Valley Technology

(June 29, 2010)
DMN Newswire--2010-6-29--LYON Video, a premiere mobile production company based in Columbus, Ohio, is building a new 53-foot expandable high-definition production truck and equipping it with the latest and most flexible Grass Valley(tm) HD cameras and a large video production switcher that will be fully capable of handling all types of multi-camera digital productions, including those shooting in the 3DHD format.

The new LYON Video MU-11 HD truck will hit the road in August, in time for the upcoming NFL season,
working with ESPN HD/ESPN, ABC, the Fox Sports Net regional sports cable network, and FOX Sports.

The new mobile unit includes 14 Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam cameras (with triax and 3G fiber
base stations), one LDK 8300 3X Super SloMo camera, one LDK 8000 SportCam (2X SloMo), two 2-channel K2 Solo(tm) servers with  ClipStore(tm), and a 4.5 M/E Kayenne(tm) Video Production Center. As part of the agreement, Grass Valley will provide StartPRO on-site commissioning services for the cameras
and switcher. Gerling & Associates (Sunbury, Ohio) constructed the truck body.

"Our first Kayenne switcher was installed on board our Lyon 8 HD Expando in 2009 and we have never
looked back," said Bob Lyon, President of LYON Video. "The power and flexibility of this switcher
is unparalleled in the industry, and provides our clients with cutting-edge capabilities not available
to them before."

All of LYON Video's large HD trucks feature Grass Valley cameras and switchers, including its Lyon 8,
which also carries a new 4.5 M/E Kayenne HD switcher, and 14 LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam HD cameras. Among a number of high-profile events, the truck was used by NFL Films at the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami FL and NBA Entertainment at the 2010 at the 59th NBA All Star game.

"Video production companies like LYON Video continue to deploy the latest Grass Valley production tools
in order to satisfy the widest variety of clients and projects," said Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President
of Grass Valley. "LYON was one of the first production companies to take delivery of our new Kayenne switcher and is now in the process of upgrading many of its existing trucks to make them more attractive to live
sports and entertainment producers televising major events in HD and, increasingly, 3D TV."

The LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam cameras offer superior multi-format video quality (including 1080p60 acquisition)offering great flexibility.  This makes them suitable for the highest quality HD and even 3DHD productions. The new cameras will be used in studio configuration with Grass Valley SuperXpander as well as handheld.

The Grass Valley Kayenne Video Production Center is a family of powerful, highly modular production switchers, with 1.5 M/Es to 4.5 M/Es. It provides the most video processing power available with up to 30 keyers and 20 DPM effects channels in a 4.5 M/E system. Grass Valley's DoubleTake(tm) split M/E technology effectively increases the available M/Es to 10. The modular control panel is designed for easy expansion and service. Each source select and aux bus module has two rows of OLED Source Name Displays that provide ultra-clear text with extremely wide viewing angles.
