Krislin Company in Development Deal with Gary Selvaggio

Creator of Butt-Ugly Martians and other series (July 24, 2001)
Gary Selvaggio has entered into a wide-ranging deal with The Krislin Company to develop and produce animated series, according to the animation production company's president, Walt Kubiak.

Selvaggio's most recent creation, “Butt-Ugly Martians,” is off to a fast start. Previously, Selvaggio was creative director at DIC and MWS Films and helped develop and produce the legendary “Teen-Age Mutant Ninja Turtles” TV series. “Turtles” yielded more than 220 episodes and generated more than $4 billion in licensing and merchandising revenues.

Selvaggio indicated that he was attracted to Krislin's unique turnkey operation of traditional and CGI production, from concept development through postproduction. "Having the whole facility placed at my disposal simply to create new toys and TV shows is fantastic. It's something that's never happened before, certainly not at MGM Animation, MWS Films nor DIC," he said. "So you'll see some truly hot new boys and girls properties by the end of the year."

In addition to his stints with “Turtles,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and a large number of other series, Selvaggio was a key creative talent during DIC's successful years with “Kidd Video,” “Pole Position,” “Get Along Gang” and others, and was also producer and director on MGM's “All Dogs Go to Heaven” television series and direct-to-video feature.

The Krislin Company is currently providing production services for Universal's upcoming CGI series, “Sitting Ducks.” Next on Krislin and Selvaggio's agenda, according to Kubiak, are a number of new CGI programs including, “Balloonatiks,” “Tales from the Earth Garden” and “The Klinic.”
