Key witness, ex-Le-Nature exec face sentencingCooperating witness, former executive face sentencing in Pa. federal court in Le-Nature fraud
PITTSBURGH (AP) ' A former accounting director-turned-government witness and a former executive for the defunct soft drink maker Le-Nature's will be sentenced by a federal judge in Pittsburgh in one of the biggest business fraud investigations in western Pennsylvania.
Tammy Jo Andreycak has been cooperating with investigators since pleading guilty in April 2008 to fudging accounting records at the behest of former chief executive and company founder Gregory Podlucky. Podlucky is serving 20 years in prison for the scheme, which cost lenders and vendors about $684 million. Prosecutors say Podlucky obtained $800 million in financing by fraudulently overstating the company's revenues.
Also to be sentenced Tuesday is Robert Lynn, former president of the bankrupt company. He was convicted despite claiming that he also was fooled by Podlucky and wasn't part of the scheme.
