Kensington's LiquidAUX

Hands free for your iPhone or iPod - Rock Out By John Haley
With everyone having their portable lifestyles these days, its hard not to bump into someone who isnt wearing headphones, you see it whenever you stop at a coffee shop.  Now that shows people love listening to their favorite songs, Im sure theyve already set up a great playlist when they are on the go. We all know that having the same portable lifestyle in our cars is yet another story, but it really isnt as difficult as it may seem. If your cars has an Auxiliary input (AUX), youre half way there!

Kensington's mobile product line has many accessories which help its customers, weather you are looking for a mini battery pack, notebook cases, wireless mouse,  or notebook lock for security.

But if youre an iPhone, or iPod owner, youre luck. Kensington has designed the perfect MP3 Accessory for your car, they like to call it LiquidAUX for iPhone and iPod. The LiquidAUX has nice clear packaging so you can easily see the product inside, and makes it easy to spot. You wont have to worry about having trouble opening the packaging, once you unseal the clear circle tap on the top, then fold back the covers, you simply pull straight out.

The LiquidAUX comes in three parts.

The wireless remote which comes with a holder which you can wrap around your steering wheel with a tight velcro hold, if you decide you dont want to use this on your steering wheel you can still use the remote by it self, just pop it out of the holder. This wireless remote also requires a battery, which Kensington included as a little bonus! Quickly install by sliding the back of the remote off and popping in the battery, then sliding it closed tight, and setting it back into the holder. The remote also have a surface which you can use by sense of touch, that way you wont have to take your eyes off the road to push the button.

If you dont have a AUX input which is within 6 inches of your cars Power Outlets, Kensington included a 4 foot cable additional which you can just plug in for the extra length.

At last, this is the most important part of the LiquidAUX, you must plug this into your cars Power Outlet, from there you have one long cable which you plug into your iPhone or iPod, now the short cable is your Auxiliary and that either plugs right into your cars AUX or you can use the extension cable if needed. The part which gets plugged into the outlet is a shinny black plastic and is very light. Even when holding entire piece wrapped up in your hand it is very light and easy to store.

And thats everything which is included in the box, it might sounds like a lot, but this isnt like other products I have seen, it is actually pretty high tech looking.  What I liked most about how the LiquidAUX looks and feels is in the cable, you wont have to worry about the cables tangled, it is made of a black nylon braided sheath, I really liked that it was thin because it was easy to store when I needed to.  The cable is also very sturdy, and has been holding up very well, and the length from when it is plugged in and connects to your iPhone or iPod has been working out very well, you decided where you it lays while in use.

When you first use your remote you might be thinking how do you pair it with the device, its pretty simple and only take a bush of a button. When your device is plugged into the power outlet and you see the orange LED light lit, you press and hold the center button of the remote until the LED blinks. That is of course after you installed the battery in the remote.  The whole purpose for the remote is so you can PLAY or PAUSE your music, also you can use the shuffle feature, and dont forget you can skip to the next track or go back, as well as holding down the next button will fast forward your song. When hooking everything else up it is pretty straight forward and requires nothing extra for you to set up.  Dont forget to set your car stereo to AUX.

One of the big perks about using the Power Outlet is that it will Charge your iPhone or iPod, which means if you are away from your home or computer for a long amount of time, you can get a quick charge when you are on your commute listening to your music.
