Kaydara's President Receives Québec IT AwardMichel Besner recognized for Kaydara's 3D animation solutions (June 09, 2004)
Kaydara Inc., a leader in character animation and motion editing solutions, today announced that the company's president and co-founder, Michel Besner, was recently honored by the Fédération Informatique du Québec (FiQ), receiving the FiQ's first official award for "Québec IT Personality of the Year." Celebrated for his merits and achievements in making Kaydara a standard reference in the world of 3D animation solutions, Besner was chosen out of 12 nominees at the FiQ's 18th Annual Awards Ceremony.
Each year, the FiQ grants more than 20 OCTAS Awards to companies, organizations and students responsible for special achievements in the information technology business. This year's FiQ OCTAS Awards Ceremony was presented by Sophie Durocher, a popular animated Québec TV personality, in front of a crowd of more than 1,000 attendees on May 29, 2004.
"Montréal and Canada are home to many outstanding hardware and software companies, and we are proud to be among some of the industry's greatest players in the world of animation and technology," said Besner, president of Kaydara. "The FiQ's "IT Personality of the Year" award is especially meaningful, not only because it is the first time the FiQ has bestowed this specific award, but also to receive recognition for Kaydara's longstanding presence in the Montréal community and our contribution to the exciting world of 3D animation."
Under Besner's leadership, Kaydara has delivered innovative and award-winning technologies such as MOTIONBUILDER and FBX. MOTIONBUILDER's renowned animation and storytelling features, and FBX's versatile, accurate and dependable authoring and data transfer capabilities are both key elements in the company's plans to make 3D animation accessible to millions of new users.
To determine the "Québec IT Personality of the Year" award, the FiQ reviewed 12 candidates whose accomplishments have made local news during the last year. Kaydara's technical achievements with MOTIONBULDER and FBX, along with its placement in Samson Bélair Deloitte & Touche's prestigious Technology Fast 50 list, which honored Kaydara's growth rate of 3,000 percent in the past five years, were contributing factors in Michel Besner receiving the FiQ's first official "Québec IT Personality of the Year" award.
Founded in 1977, the FiQ is Québec's Information Technology network representing nearly 2,500 information technology professionals from more than 1,000 companies, and is recognized as one of the largest and most important groups working in the field of communication and technology. The FiQ's role is to promote Québec's competencies and future achievements, representing the best interests of its members and ensuring they get professional recognition. Thanks to the FiQ's partnership with the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) and with many other professional affiliations, its members are well represented in both Québec and Canada, as well as internationally. In addition to the OCTAS Awards, FiQ is committed to mobilizing many activities within Québec's information technology industry. For more information about FiQ and its awards, visit www.fiq.qc.ca.
