Just Edit to Show VSN Air News Multiformat Playout at IBCPlayout system allows mixing of multiple formats in the same playlist (August 17, 2004)
Just Edit, DVLince developer, announces the release of the new generation of video servers for Master Control and News Room automation solutions. VSN Air News, the first multiformat playout with video codec and file format independence, allows mixing of DV25/50, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, M-JPEG, WM9 and MXF files with different video codecs in the same playlist. Another great innovation is the optional Redundancy Module, with fail detection and automatic switching to backup video server, bringing full security without compromising emission.
Compatibility with all existing NLE formats.
Every day more TV stations are looking for a tapeless operation in a digitized workflow. It is usual to find different NLE workstations in a TV Station. The result is generated files that are incompatible with On Air Video Servers. This means you have to waste time printing to tape and ingesting again all the video server productions for their emission. It would be much more efficient to instead copy the file through the local net directly to the video server for their immediate emission, saving tape, time, and money, VTR’s and increasing quality, efficiency, and productivity. VSN News integrates with the most popular NLE systems like Vegas Video, Pínnacle, Avid, Final Cut Pro, Canopus, and Premiere among others, but not withstanding it is 100% compatible with all codecs in their original format available today and in the future, DV, DVCPRO, MPEG2 4:2:0, MPEG2 4:2:2, M-JPEG, Windows Media 9, Matrox proprietary formats and MXF among many others.
Maximum security for a 24x7 emission.
The new VSN Air MM software module manages fail detection and automatic switching to the backup playouts assuring the uninterrupted emission in all critical circumstances. There are two identical playouts emiting the same synchronized rundown. The audio/video outputs of both playouts go to a 8x8 matrix subgroup and just like the vtr’s device control and/or switchers to another 8x8 rs-422 remote router. If any small playout incidence is detected, the backup playout is switched on air through the 8x8 video router, exactly in the same frame where the main one had to leave the emission, without any operator intervention. Also the 8x8 rs-424 remote router switches in order that the backup playout takes control of vtrs and the master switcher. There’s no critical situation and nobody will see the main playout failure.
