DMN Newswire--2009-4-1--Jet Stream Sound, a boutique audio post house offering sound design, mixing and other sound services for film, television, games and commercials, has launched in Burbank. Formed by supervising sound editor/re-recording mixer Rick Larimore and composer/re-recording mixer Steven Cahill, Jet Stream Sound features two mixing studios-one equipped with a state-of-the-art Digidesign Icon mixing console-and a recording room for voice-over, ADR and music tracking.
The company already has several projects under its belt, including The Six Wives of Henry Lefay, a Fox film starring Tim Allen, the children's television series Ni Hao, Kai-lan for Nick Jr., the documentary The Age of Believing: The Disney Live Action Classics, the short films The Ride Along and God's Marble (an official Cannes short film selection) and the game titles Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II (Relic Entertainment), Company of Heroes (Relic Entertainment) and Stormrise (Sega). Current projects include Fading of the Cries for Ratio Pictures.
Larimore, a former re-recording mixer at 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros., said that Jet Stream will focus on independent film, television and commercial projects seeking a more creative approach and individualized attention to audio post. "We chose the name Jet Stream because it suggests a limitless expanse of sky and space and evokes a spirit of dreaming," he said. "It's in line with how we approach our work-we want to press the limits and push higher and higher in what we do."
Jet Stream's facility is all new and features a fully tapeless workflow. Studio A includes a Digidesign Icon D-Command integrated console in an Argosy Mirage workspace with Pro Tools HD. Studio B also features Pro Tools HD with Magma Expansion and an exhaustive list of plug-ins. The company's full mix of services includes HD sound creation, commentary recording, mastering and restoration for DVD and Blu-ray, music production, and voice-over/ADR recording. It also offers space and the latest Final Cut Studio 2 resources for picture editors.
"As a new company, we are in a unique position to service independent film and TV producers," Larimore observed. "We are extremely flexible in our workflow and in how we can package services to meet a project's particular needs. We find that people are very responsive to the dedication and commitment we bring to their projects."
At 20th Century Fox, Larimore performed DVD mastering for Prison Break, How I Met Your Mother and The Simpsons. Previously, he served as director of audio services at Elektrofilm, Burbank, where he established the company's sound department. He also helped to develop a clientele that included indie films, episodic television, promos and trailers. His background also includes posts as a sound editor, sound designer and re-recording mixer with Warner Bros., Sunset Digital, Anderson Video/4MC, Chace Productions and Mix Magic.
Cahill is also the owner of Sticky Notes Music, through which he provides music composition and arrangement services for film, television and live theater. His credits in that regard include Party of Five, Touched by an Angel, Six Feet Under and 'Til Death. He has a Grammy nomination (for the original cast recording of Sunset Boulevard) and three nominations for LA Ovation awards for his work as a sound designer for theatrical productions at the Geffen Playhouse, Pasadena Playhouse and South Coast Repertory.
