JesterTek to Demo Gesture Presentation Control(August 13, 2001)
"The missing element between content and large screen displays has been intuitive control systems," according to Dean LaCoe, JesterTek's Vice President of Business Development. "JesterTek fills that gap with products that attract and engage trade show visitors, increase their length of stay and let them get the information they want."
JestPoint allows users to point at a computer monitor of any size, from kiosk to video wall, from any distance and use intuitive gestures to command and control the content. With JestPoint, TS2 delegates will be able to take control of flat panel monitors simply by pointing. They can navigate a web site, scroll, zoom, even rotate 3D images to look at products from all sides without touching a screen, a mouse or a keyboard. JestPoint provides these same advantages for unattended retail store window displays, behind glass, that can be controlled by passers-by from the street and that can be networked through broadband connections to numerous outlets.
"JestPoint may eventually replace the mouse for many desktop applications and be used as a controlling device for game consoles," says LaCoe. "Our goal as a company is to make interactivity with a computer comfortable, seamless and natural."
JestXtreme takes gesture control technology to the extreme, providing an immersive experience that allows people to bring their whole body into promotional video games. It has proven itself to be a crowd-attractor in museum and entertainment installations with people lining up to play. Games can be customized with promotional content, logos and brand names. JestXtreme is completely self-contained and requires no operator or supervision. It can also be put in "contest mode" creating gentle competition among players.
JestXtreme is available for purchase or rent. JesterTek can work with customers to create custom games or provide a Software Development Kit to allow third parties to develop their own.
